Self Assigned IP when using ethernet via a docking station on my Macbook Pro Intel i7

I have a docking station to (Plugable UD6950H) connect my Macbook Pro to external displays. Recently, I have been having issues with WiFi so i wanted to to use the ethernet connection via the docking station. I get the message "Connected" with self assigned IP.

I have tried the solutions from this thread (Self assigned IP address on iMac - Big Su… - Apple Community) and this (ethernet has a self-assigned ip address a… - Apple Community) and nothing seems to work so far.

Specifications of my mac

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)

2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

macOS Big Sur version 11.6 (20G165)

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

The message indicates that there is a physical connection, but your mac is unable to get a configuration from a DHCP server.

Have you used an Ethernet connection with your router before?

Did you check that your router has DHCP enabled over the Ethernet connection?

Predicated on you have followed all the suggestions from supplied link above - one (you ) may consider updating the Big Sur to current released version 11.6.4 versus present installed version 11.6

This may or may not fix this issue but at least all the available Bug and Security Updates in 11.6.4 all be installed.
