AirPods Pro Rattling but excluded from 3 years extended recall warranty

My Apple AirPods Pro has started exhibiting rattling problem on the right side AirPod. After searching for the issue on the web, I saw many people experienced this similar symptom. Apple also recognized the problem and has a recall program which offers 3 year extended warranty on this issue.

I came to Apple store to get my AirPods Pro fixed. Unfortunately they refuse to offer the recall for my unit for the reason that my unit was manufactured 2 days after the recall criteria. In Apple recall statement, they admitted that AirPods Pro manufactured before Oct 2020 could have the rattling issue. Since my unit was manufactured on Oct 2, 2020 (which is 2 days after) therefore they won’t fix or replace my unit as a part of the recall.

I spent 3.5 hours at Apple store to wait to talk to their staffs, talked to Apple online support team, and get my unit diagnosed. The diagnostic confirmed that my unit have the rattling issue but refuse to honor the recall. To get it fix or replace I would have to pay $89 for one ear piece or $178 for both sides. I’m disappointed that Apple picked on a difference of 2 days to refuse the recall. Since Apple confirmed that all AirPods Pro manufactured from Oct 2020 has the rattling fixed. This could mean that their fix did not fully work because my unit belong to the batch that got the fix but still exhibit the same problem. Hopefully Apple will aware that there is still the problem with their fix and expand the recall program to cover other AirPods Pro that were manufactured from Oct 2020 and forward.
