My sustain pedal isn't working in logic pro. There are sustain markings showing up in the editor but the notes are not being sustained

My sustain pedal isn't working in logic pro. There are sustain markings showing up in the automation/midi editor but the notes are not being sustained?? I tried deleting preferences, bypassing control surfaces, and even uninstalled and reinstalled logic. The pedal works fine on my keyboard but when I use with logic the notes aren't sustained even though a sustain is marked when recording. I feel like I'm going crazy, any help appreciated!
