touch id on iMac

I have a imac 27 inch 2015 running latest MacOS Monterey Version 12.2.1

I just bought the apple magic keyboard with touch ID but I cannot find Touch ID as an option in system preferences to set the touch ID feature up. Please help. I have tried turning off and on. I've tried turning off, unplugging for 30 sec then turning on. Any suggestions as to why this is occuring

Touch ID is only supported on Macs with M1 or later chips. The only iMac that supports it is the current. 24” iMac. Sorry! But if you bought it from Apple, you can return it for a full refund, no questions asked…hurry.
