I can't access my Apple TV from my iPhone's remote anymore. I can still use Airplay though.

I used to be able to use the "Remote" on my iphone to control my Apple TV up until about 3 days ago. Now, when I try to use my iPhone 12's Remote to access the Apple TV, it has me "Choose a TV", I select my Apple TV, and it says "Connecting", but never connects. It just continually takes me back to "Choose a TV". My phone is up to date, and is on the same wifi network as my Apple TV. My husband's iPhone connects to the Apple TV normally.

I can access the Apple TV through Airplay. I go to a photo or video on my phone, select Airplay, and my photo or video will play on the Apple TV. So I know they can connect to each other. But they will not connect to each other via the "Remote" on the iPhone. I have tried restarting my iPhone and it didn't help.

I have been experiencing this same issue for a couple of weeks. It works. Then it doesn’t. Then it stops working in the middle of using the remote function.

an IT professional, with almost three decades of experience with Apple products. Their support staff, bless their hearts, will not be able to fix a flaw in their iOS. Wireless issues in iOS 15 are at the heart of this problem, so until Apple fixes this bug in their iOS, your best bet is to use the physical Apple TV remote, and have plenty of Vodka on hand to relieve the stress of having substandard iOS programming. 🐻🍸🤬🙄🤪

If more than one Apple TV device is selectable, then verify that you select the correct one.

If the names are generic and hard to differentiate, then change the name on the device to something more distinctive.

Set up the Apple TV Remote on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

  1. Verify for the latest software available on each device,
  2. Restart the Apple TV and iPhone for a fresh attempt,
  3. If you still can’t connect, contact Apple Support.

I can't access my Apple TV from my iPhone's remote anymore. I can still use Airplay though.
