Searching Apple Mail using BOOLEAN operators

I'm trying to filter out emails for a client that has sent emails from an email account to the same email account. This is what people use to do when having POP accounts on more than one device. Remember those days?

I've seen this page already and I understand grep: Search for emails in Mail on Mac – Apple Support (UK)

I've tried search: "to: email@address.com NOT from: email@address.com" and "to: email@address.com - from: email@address.com but they're not ignoring emails sent to the same account.

Any ideas?
