144hz 1440p not working

Hi, I'm using m1 macbook air with my 144hz monitor. When I connect my 2.0 hdmi cable to my mac (usb c hub) and my monitor, I only get 120hz on 1080p and get 72hz on 1440p. My monitor is lg 27gl83a-b and it literally says this monitor supports 144hz. Does anyone have similar problem like me?

An HDMI 2.0 (Premium High Speed) cable is only rated to provide 4K @ 60Hz or 5K @ 30Hz. You also did not tell us which exact model your MacBook Air is.

Just because your monitor can support a 144Hz refresh rate does not mean that your notebook can.
