Uninstall an app that is "open"

I'm trying to find and remove/delete an app that says it is "open" but I can't find the app. I've looked at the Applications folder and it's not there. I don't know if the app is hidden deep into my computer (it was used for a website information session). I hope someone can assist me. Thank you in advance.

Disregard this inquiry. I found the answer that worked (the instructions for 'Force Quit' did not work on this open app !!); had to go to Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and find the application and do the "quit process" process.
