Apple Watch Series 7 Stops Vibrating

My new (Jan 2022) Apple Watch Series 7 will randomly stop vibrating for notifications. It works fine for a few days, then stops vibrating. This is especially bad when it doesn't even vibrate for my morning alarm.

Restarting the watch generally fixes it, but there's no way to know when it's stopped other than missing notifications or (like today) missing my alarm and waking up late.

I have automatic software updates on, so it's not that I'm lagging behind there either.

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.

This is only a temporary fix. This happened to me Monday this week. Restarted everything, unpaired and re-paired. It worked Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today overslept yet again. Phone and watch showing an alarm going off but no vibrations nothing. Phone was in sleep mode. Watch up until this week has always vibrated to wake me up. Verified that the watch was not on silent.

Really shouldn’t have to restart or do the pairing process every few days just to have a reliable alarm.

I’m going to try using the regular alarm and not the sleep alarm to see if it works. Other alarms throughout the day set via the alarm app work fine on my watch.

I have exactly same issue! I even brought the watch to the Apple Store and they replaced it with a new one but after setting it up (as a new device) problem still occurs. It’s really frustrating. I called support as well suggesting that it might be a software issue but they said I should bring it back to the store for another repair but until then they can’t investigate it as they need to see a pattern that multiple repairs failed which seems quite ridiculous to me.

This has happened to be 3 times since I got my Series 7 watch. It never happened on my Series 3 or series 5 Apple Watches (but it might be a new Watch OS issue and not hardware issue). I haven't used an audible alarm since I bought my first FitBit about 10 years ago. My big fear is that I will miss a plane flight because of this. Setting extra alarms doesn't help, because none of them work when this problem occurs. A restart of the watch has fixed it every time, but it's unpredictable.

I wonder if it could be tied to a low battery level. If you drop to about 5% of battery life, put it on the charger, but take it off at 65% (because you are going to sleep), might it be in a low power mode and was waiting until it got to 100% to turn that off? I haven't tried to force this condition to test it.

I am having the same problem! New apple watch, suddently alarm stopped working yesterday. I overslept from my work. My old watch never had this problem.

my old iphone used to have this problem as well. It would make no sound and not vibrate when the alarm went off. Apple needs to fix this asap.. it’s messing with peoples life. I dont like not being able to trust my alarms.

Same here. Series 7. I never know when it’s going to fail. I got to work late on the last two days. This is a deal breaker. Apple should fix this asap. I’ll be making posts to make sure people think twice before buying. This is a deal breaker. A device that screws up your alarms can get you fired or make you lose flights and your vacation.
