Apple Watch 7 slow charging with Belkin BoostCharge PRO after 8.5

Hi,

After updating the Apple Watch 7 to WhatchOS 8.5 it stopped fast charging with Belkin BoostCharge PRO. It used to charge very fast and now is very very very slow (about 5% in one hour). Any idea of how to solve this issue?

Thanks!

I can also confirm, the boost pro stopped charging my Series 7 altogether after updating to watchOS 8.5. It’ll charge normally on Apple chargers, but the Belkin fast charger recently released no longer works. Considering the absolute desolate landscape that third party fast charging for Series 7 is currently, how quickly Apple releases a fix for this is critical for Belkin and others to keep customer trust.

Apple is still selling them for $149–how do I know? I bought one 4 months ago! It’s now USELESS for my AWS 7. I’ve contacted Apple and Belkin. I was told “they know about the issue and are working on it.”

How long should I wait before asking for a refund? How long does it take to fix a software issue that “broke” a charger???

garbage charger. Luckily I bought mine two days ago so I’m definitely returning it. But not before making a YouTube video about it since no one else has. And it seems that belkin and apple don’t really care since 8.5.1 is out and that did NOT fix the issue. I recommend fighting with them. (Not physical, duh). Apple/belkin sold you (and me) a product that doesn’t work as intended. Either keep asking for a replacement unit to keep adding costs up on their end, or ask for a full refund regardless of how much time has passed. It simply isn’t working. That’s it. It’s a broken product.

and now we have to wait on apples good graces to get it fixed? Lol yeah .. maybe next year.

I just got off with Apple Support. They REFUSE to acknowledge there's an issue with the OS update to 8.5.1 breaking the ability to charge the AWS 7 on the Belkin 3-in-1 mag safe boost charger. Even in the advisor's report -- he misrepresented the issue writing "Hi,

Thanks for choosing Apple Support for your repair. Be sure to read the important information at the end of this email.Apple WatchProblem Description: Power Will not charge

That's not the problem! I kept telling the guy over and over -- the watch does charge -- with the chord it came with. NOT with the $149 Belkin charger I bought from Apple!!! And now I have to visit a Geek at the local Best Buy to show them that this already documented problem is a problem? This is so freaking stupid. I am ready to lose my mind. What is it going to take for Apple to acknowledge they broke this charger and fix it?

Thanks for allowing me to vent here. I am trying so hard to get this fixed.

Belkin is aware that the Apple update broke it. They are working on it with Apple. Since there is no guarantee this will be fixed. I returned and received a complete refund from Apple. This was way beyond the policy but Apple has accepted responsibility and made it happen. I recommend that those who purchased the charger from Apple do the same. Applr will sit on on this otherwise.

I can confirm this has started happening to a Series 3 on WatchOS 8.5.1.

From time to time, when I put it in the Belkin BoostCharge PRO 3-in-1 it is detected and starts charging, but it stops after maybe 10-15 seconds.

If I hard-reset the Watch (pushing the crown and button together for a while), after booting it charges normally again. This stays that way maybe for a day or two, then starts behaving the same way again until I hard-reset again.

It happens both if the watch is low on battery and if it is not (i.e. at 75%).

Apple, please issue a fix for this. It's driving me nuts!

The problem you mentioned with the Belkin boost pro charge 3 in 1 with your AW7 is solve with the test version of the new release AW 8.6.

those tests versions are available for the public and you can charge it before they will publish the official version of these release.

I’ve the same problem before and with these test version it’s solve.

regards.

Wow! I’m trying to install the beta and only have the 3-in-1 station handy at the moment. I am trying to charge to 50%. It went from 39% down to 30% without me noticing. The moment I did, I took a screenshot and seconds later checked again and it went to 28%, meaning it dropped 2% in a short moment while on the charger.

🔌 So far it took me almost 4h to go from 19%->39%->30%->28%… wonder whether I make it to 50%…

I am optimistic the beta will fix this issue, will report back if not. Hang in there!
