Multiple Monitors via one USB-C port on Macbook Pro 2021 / DisplayPort Alt Mode

He,

I have searched a lot, but did not find an answer.

I have a new MacBook Pro 2021 with M1Pro chip.

I want to attach 2 displays (Eizo EV2495).

One display is connected to the second one via USB-C itself.

The second display is connected to the MacBook. The supported / required feature is DisplayPort Alt Mode.

In system preferences, I see only one external display, the external displays are mirrored.

Anybody knows a fix or whether DisplayPort Alt Mode is supported?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.2

Macs only support daisy-chained displays over a ThunderBolt connection. The first device AND the first cable must BOTH be genuine ThunderBolt.

USB-C or DisplayPort will NOT suffice, because their cables do not have enough bandwidth to support TWO high speed displays' data required for daisy-chaining.

Your 1920 x 1200 displays have these featured inputs:

USB Type-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode, HDCP 1.3),

DisplayPort (HDCP 1.3),

HDMI (HDCP 1.4) -- good for up to 4K at 30Hz, or 2K at 60Hz, or HD at possibly higher refresh rates, if available.

Greetings, MarioKind.

To start, congrats on your new Mac! In regard to setting up multiple displays with your Mac:

For Mac computers with the Apple M1 Chip: You can connect a single external display to your Mac. Docks don’t increase the number of displays you can connect. On a Mac mini with M1 chip, you can connect a second display to the HDMI port. See the Apple Support article Mac computers with Apple silicon.

” Use one or more external displays with your Mac

We hope this helps!

Sincerely.
