There is an icon between some photos which looks like two pieces of paper diagonally on top of one another or as though it might represent "two copies". What it shows is the video flows from one slide to another and there is a 1, 2, 3, and 4 for what photos it will show and each shot is like a photo in an old album with corners holders. How do I get rid of it and just have the video go to the next photo straight off?

It means that you are running a referenced library, and the original is not being kept safely in the Photos Library

Several photos on top of each other might be a burst of photos. Did you take the photos in a quick succession? Then Photos will stack them as a burst, and you have to select the best photos from this burst to split it.

Your description is not very clear (where are you seeing this for example). Can you post a screenshot: CMD-shift-4 and drag a box around what you want to screenshot - it will be saved to your desktop.
