Number of Processors: 1

Total Number of Cores: 6

The issue:

TextEdit fails to save new files

Existing files can be opened by double-clicking on them and then re-saved.

If a new file is created and the tried to save, TextEdit hangs and it must be forced to quit.

There are no dialog notices, TextEdit simply hangs until force to quit.

This appeared to start after my upgrade to 12.2 and continues with 12.2.1

Hours of time have been wasted trying to figure this out. Apparently other have had this issue without resolution. Maybe starting this new thread with get some answers.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did run Etrecheck. It found a few issues but none that I could find would cause what was happening.

After I posted the issue I was having with TextEdit, I tried a few more things. One worked!

Re-started in safe mode.

Created a new Folder (Directory) for the TextEdit files I was working with. Deleted the old Folder. Re- inserted and saved the documents.

Re-started and voilá, TextEdit is as good as new.

Not sure what the cause was but I believe the original directory name was too long or was corrupted in some way.

Thanks again for your response.
