Photos not going to photo stream IOS 15.4

This has happened many times before but today..no photos are going to photo stream from my iPhone XR. Check everything..iCloud storage has lots of space, photo stream is turned on as well as shared albums, have rebooted, have dialed photo stream and reenabled....still..no photos are copied.

Running 15.4.

iPhone XR

I fixed it by turning off HEIF upload.

Go to Settings/Camera/Formats and select "Most Compatible".

I think this is a bug in 15.4. Hopefully Apple will release a fix soon. If you can wait a little longer, hopefully Apple will release a bug fix and you'll be able to get all your photos without reverting to the old format.

I've notice the update only partially fixed the problem. Even with high efficiency turned off, Photo Stream only works sometimes.

Same here. No rhyme or reason. I went out on a walk and took a few photos; some went to Photostream and some didn’t.

Oh…and I couldn’t post this via Safari for iPad. It kept prompting me to sign in, even after I had presumably signed in multiple times. Then it wouldn’t accept my reply. I switched to Brave browser and it worked the first time. Nice job, Apple!

I’m not sure about the others in this thread, but for myself and MANY other people, Photo Stream has been flaky for a couple of YEARS before this particular issue even popped up. Even when it was “working” it was only half working. It had to constantly be switched off and back on on both the iDevice and the Mac it was uploading to and sometimes even a sign out and back in of the AppleID.

I just used this latest issue as the final reason to just connect my iPhone to my Mac once in a while and import ALL my pictures AND VIDEOS all at once, all in their native format and high resolution. Faster, easier, and more reliable and complete.

I know my way won’t be better for everyone - when Photo Stream works it can be a really sweet transfer/sync method - but Apple is basically letting it deteriorate, and I personally am tired of dealing with it.

+1

It seems to be on its way out, but until Apple formally discontinues it, it should work. Wasted a lot of time on the phone with Apple about this before 15.5, only to have the Senior Advisor say it was a known issue.

In past years, toggling PhotoStream off and back on again on the devices running the desktop OS was sometimes enough to resolve the issue - but not always.

Completely agree with everything you said there, but especially the first sentence. Should have included that in my previous post.

If they aren't going to officially axe it, it absolutely should work as intended. I too have wasted a lot of time on the phone with Apple, and here in the forums, trying to troubleshoot it.
