Does the ac power cord disconnect from the new 27inch Studio monitor?
Yes.
Yes.
The Studio Display ships with an "Attached Power Cord" thus the picture with cord shown poking through hole in stand. "An error of omission," Apple does not make mistakes of this nature (heads would roll). Since the cord is permanently attached, it is a part of the monitor, and not a separate item in the box.
According to the reviews I read, it does not. You can see in the unboxing videos the power cord is packaged along the stand, and the cord is attached.
According to MacRumors unboxing, the cable is firmly attached.

About 5:30 into the video.
Why not see for yourself at an Apple Store if you suspect the pics? It is detachable.
The cord can be removed BUT only with a special tool designed by Apple. The reason the standard C13 power connector we’re all familiar with wasn’t used is because the Studio Display is too thin, so Apple went with a custom designed connector. Pictures of the removal tool are floating around on Apple tech blogs like AppleInsider, etc.

That means if the cord becomes damaged it cannot be replaced, therefore the monitor will be worthless. This is the first reason this is a nonstarter for a new monitor purchase in my household.
Of course it can be replaced, but not by the user. It will require an authorized Apple technician to do the job.
YouTube testesr say it is not removable.
I agree, reputable YouTube testers have said the cord is not removable. This is not acceptable for a $1600.00 base model Studio Monitor.
What makes you think it isn’t? Have you encountered any Apple product where the cable is not removable? Additionally, pictures accompanying the tech spec on the Apple site makes it quite clear it isn’t. I would accept it for fact.
There’s also a picture w/o the cord Studio Display - Technical Specifications - Apple.
“makes it quite clear it isn’t.” = sorry, my bad, I meant “makes it quite clear it’s removable”.
It’s snapshotted from the Apple specs page Studio Display - Technical Specifications - Apple.
Which makes it impossible to replace the power cord if it becomes damaged.
