Restore from backup, AFTER phone has been used
I have been through the ringer and also a visit to the genius bar. They could not solve the problem.
Scenario: iPhone 6 Plus running 15.5.x.
- The automated transfer process will not complete
- Back up to iTunes via USB does not complete
- iCloud backup from Phone to iCloud does not complete
The one solution that the Genius Bar offered was an ethernet connection (hardwired via adapter) so that the iCloud backup can complete without wi-fi dropping at the 90% mark (it happens consistently)
All that shared, I have given up and started using the new iPhone 13 Pro Max while the iPhone 6 plus backs up over ethernet, like a few days.
My goal is to "restore" messages and other data (Contacts are in OneDrive, as are photos) but now that I started using the phone (Texting, taking pictures) what happens when I restore? Does it wipe out the new phone? Can I do messages only?
