Custom lyrics not always showing on iphone Music

I have downloaded a DJ mix onto my Mac and used the Lyrics option to type in the track listing. The strange thing is that when I upload the mix to iCloud and download it to my iPhone the lyrics do not always display. For some mixes they do and for some they do not.

Image one - the Custom Lyrics on my Mac.

Image two - the option to see lyrics on my iPhone is not there.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for your reply but I do not listen to explicit lyrics. As I said in my post I was using the Custom Lyrics feature to write a Track Listing for a DJ mix that I downloaded. Some mixes that I have done this for show up ok on my iPhone but some do not. None are explicit.

Thanks

Hello Gary Llewellyn,

In order to help resolve the issue of your lyrics not showing on your iPhone, check to see If you have explicit content turned off for your device, you might not see explicit lyrics. Learn how to turn explicit content on or off with Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or with Screen Time on your Mac. You can also turn restrictions on or off for your Apple TV or Android device.

Best Regards.

Greetings Gary Llewellyn,

Thanks for the additional details. To be clear, do you subscribe to Apple Music? If so, do you have Sync Library enabled? As it shows here, you need to have an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription with Sync Library enabled.

Enter song lyrics
- In the Music app  on your Mac, Control-click a song, then choose Get Info.
- Click Lyrics, then select Custom Lyrics at the bottom of the window.
- Enter the words to the song, then click OK.
- To sync custom lyrics across your devices, you need a subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match.

Here's the link to look over: View and enter lyrics in Music on Mac.

What version of the macOS is currently on the Mac? Here's how to Find out which macOS your Mac is using. What about on the iPhone? You can find out which iOS software is on the iPhone by looking in Settings > General > About.

Best wishes.

Thank you for confirming the additional details, Gary Llewellyn.

What you've described is not expected behavior. Since your devices are fully updated, and nothing else stands out at this time as to why the Custom Lyrics features isn't working properly, we'd recommend continuing with out support teams from here. You can reach them here:

Hi Genieen16,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I do subscribe to iTunes Match and synced is selected for all my devices.

Mac is on Monterey 12.3

iPad is on 15.4

iPhone is on 15.4

Here are four short videos hopefully explaining what is wrong.

  1. Soulful Selections with Lyrics on Mac https://youtu.be/34LfXnu0FY8
  2. Soulful Selections with Lyrics on iPad https://youtu.be/iy97JsiTzS8
  3. Soul Divinity #3 with Lyrics on Mac https://youtu.be/CTrgLeMag5s
  4. Soul Divinity #3 with no option to display Lyrics on iPad https://youtu.be/HPD_DXuTRSg

I know it is not a major problem but just wondered if it was a known glitch.

Thanks

Gary
