Midi stopped working with iOS 15.4

I too, hopefully installed the latest update. No difference. In fact, no midi applications will even start on my iPad—whether I have midi connected or not. They all just crash while trying to load. This is crazy.

I think if Apple wanted to provide good support to their users, they should read this thread and write a message here telling us that they are already working on the bug. That would be very good for all of us.

I reported first issue when get it on 15.4, in march 27, and I’ve sent a lot of logs and a lot of new information to them. I really don’t know why is so difficult to fix that.

@norbert111 So, you’re suggesting the following set up as a workaround: a 5 pin DIN MIDI cable connected from the keyboard to a USB audio interface and that connects to a Lightning to USB 3 cable to the iPad? You mentioned using iRig Audio interface. Do you think any audio interface would work the same?

I think they stopped supporting certain midi devices and if that is the case I will throw my iPad in the garbage and go get a Samsung. They suggested I update my Clavininova which I could do a firmware update, but that update was a long time ago and I suspect it wouldn’t resolve the problem anyway. Apparently Yamaha is talking to Apple about a solution.

I am also very disappointed. Apple removed the headphone port and now the USB MIDI connection. It is true that MIDI DIN works fine but there are features on my Yamaha MO8 that only work with usb MIDI (DAW MIDI Control for example).

Same problem here iPad Pro suddenly stopped working with Yamaha keyboards. The older cellphone still works, but is a major pain to use with music. Certainly, neither device will be replaced with an Apple device as long as this problem persists. Apple seems to have lost the “It just works.” motto. Over to you, Apple.

I have a support agent from Apple helping me, they open the case and said for me to send them screen video. They said in seven days the developers will review the issue and my case rep will get back to me.

I guess they don’t read the forums since she said this has not been reported. I’ll keep y’all posted.

It’s August of 2022, I bought an iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th gen [usb type c port] at the beginning of this year I think . And I didn’t find any issues connecting my iPad to CASIO WK7600 with musical applications like GarageBand and others app till march or April, after that I find difficulties connecting my iPad to the keyboard . The problem I’m having till now is - the MIDI works rarely on a luck, it’s hard to detect/connect the keyboard [only usb midi output] with usb midi cable to my iPad . I’m seeking a solutions for this …

I have an iPad Pro with type c port and I think I don’t need an adapter to connect any digital keyboard or midi keyboard to my iPad . I think the adapter you mention is only for lightning port iPad or iPhone.

still I’m seeking help from this community to fix my connection issues with my iPad Pro M1 5th gen and CASIO KEYBOARD WK7600. It’s hard to detect the midi input to my iPad .

Same problem with iPhone 13 pro.

Midi stopped working with 15.4. The apps using midi are crashing.

Same problem here, after iOS 15.4 midi port doesn’t work anymore on my iPad Air 4th.
