ICS calendar invites open in iphone/ipad - yet I can't save them

I switched to all Apple and I admit it's not as seamless as I had expected.

If I get a ICS in gmail or yahoo mail, I can open the ICS on my iphone or ipad - the calendar opens, but does not give me a way to save the event. Then open the ical on the ipad or phone with the other device I can see it as long as keep the ical screen open on the original device. As soon as I close the ical that opened via the email - the entry disappears in ical.

What am I doing wrong?

Open GMAIL or YAHOO MAIL
Open email with ics invite, click on invite
Invite opens iCAL and shows the event - but there is no save or edit but. It's basically a preview. What do I do to add that event? There is no add/edit button on ipad or iphone

On the MAC

Open GMAIL or YAHOO MAIL
Open email and click on the ICS attachment
That opens up the ics in a CODE form
So I have to save the untitled.ics as event.ics to get it in the icalendar.

I am used to gmail open/click done. WHERE IS MY DISCONNECT in this process with iCAL?

I want to be all in with APPLE, but it's proving to be challenging (ignoring the calendar seems to have less features)

Thanks for confirming that, lanline. To make sure we're fully understanding the issue, you're not seeing "Accept, Maybe, or Decline" when the event opens in the Calendar app?

If not, let's make sure that your iPhone is up to date: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support -- The current iOS version is 15.4. You can find which version your iPhone is on by going to Settings > General > About > Version.

How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support -- Also, make sure that the applications on your iPhone are also up to date as well.

If your iPhone and apps are fully updated, see if restarting your iPhone resolves this: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

I have had this problem for several years, except instead of the Google app I am using the Yahoo Mail app. When I click on an ICS calendar invite Ed pops up in the Apple calendar screen but offers no option to actually save the event.

this has plagued me for so long and I would really love to find a solution. Seems like a bug.

Did you have any luck?

Hi thanks for the reply, but the links provided don't address the problem of my question. Using GMAIL app on my iPhone, I can open a ICS invite and it correctly opens iCAL and displays the event. There is NO SAVE button and no way to add the event. I can't even close the new event preview if it came from GMAIL or YAHOO apps. Yahoo Mail app causes the same issue - only apple mail opens the ics file correctly.

The links you sent are helpful starting out, but I'm not seeing anything in the link that deals with the problem that I am having. Why does the event open in ical and display as a new event - but not have a save button? Thanks I appreciate the help.
