PhotoBooth cannot take videos

MacBook Pro M1 Monterey 12.0.1: Camera works fine, Photos work in PhotoBooth, video doesn't.

Welcome to the Apple Community.


Wondering if updating to the newest version of Monterey would help.


OR

Have you tried recording a video in Photo Booth following Apple's guidance (Eg: below) ?

If so, what happens ?

Take a photo or record a video in Photo Booth on Mac – Apple Support

Says:

  1. In the Photo Booth app  on your Mac, if you see the View Photo button  or the View Video button , click it to see the Take Photo button  or Record Video button .
  2. If the Record Video button  isn’t showing, at the bottom left, click the Record a movie clip button .
  3. Click the Record Video button . Click the Stop button  when you finish recording.
