MacBook Air + Mac Mini

Is it possible to connect a Mac Mini to a MacBook Air to act as an external hard drive? I feel like it is possible since it is only utilizing the screen of my Air with the offloading going to the mini, but everywhere I look I can't seem to find any answers. Any feedback is appreciated!

Yes and no. It depends on what kind of files you want to store and access?

While the Mac Mini can be used as a File Server over you local network, it is going to be much slower than storing files on an external drive that is connected directly to the MacBook Air.
