Large Pixelated Lines w/ Colored Pencil in Notes App (iPadOS)

Hello,

I am seeing large pixelated lines using the colored pencil in the Notes app. This was only an issue until fairly recently (a few weeks ago) - perhaps after an iOS upgrade.

The colored pencil looks perfectly fine on macOS and iOS. It is only an issue in iPadOS.

I have tried rebooting and the issue persists. I also have tried with both the Apple Pencil and my finger (in iPadOS) and the issue is the same.

Please see attached.

Did you see the attachments?

Those are the *exact* same Note, sync'd via iCloud, and screenshotted on 1) an iPad and 2) Mac Mini.

So you can clearly see the difference in how the colored pencil is displayed.

If this isn't some buried setting somewhere - which I'm quite sure I never would have changed had I the option - then it is clearly some kind of bug.

Hello DJ Droogie,

If you're looking to make the pencil tool have sharper lines, tap on it in the tool box at the bottom then make sure the intensity slider for it is turned all the way up. With it all the way turned up, you'll have sharper lines and bolder color, however it is still going to mimic the effect of a real pencil.

If you're looking for solid lines and edges on your drawing, you would want to use the pen tool which would be the second tool from the left, marked with the number "97".

Draw with Notes on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!

Hello. Thank you for the reply.

That is incorrect, in terms of "The difference you are seeing is the difference in the screens on the two devices".

I was previously seeing the colored pencil as *exactly* the same resolution on *all* iDevices screens, as mentioned: MacOS, iPadOS, and iOS. I'm quite sure that a software update caused this to happen - it's still TBD exactly when.

At one point - I was able to reboot my iPad to solve the issue - but that 'workaround' no longer works.
