Thanks for the response, and I too have bought 2 Imac's 27" and love the size and everything about them, but it is running Big Sur, and cannot be updated to Monteray, and love the Studio, but I will be ****** if I would buy their display at that outrageous price. The Imac I am using is still working well, so I will wait to see if anyone else comes out with a similar display as the M8 which priced right. Again, thanks for your input.

I couldn't see any paired reviews. I checked the M8 manual and there is this caveat:

"Connection notes for USB Type-C

Due to the compatibility issue, the function may not be available when any Thunderbolt device is connected using a cable."

That's enough for me to steer clear of the M8 until I see some reviews where it's paired with a Mac.

My Mac Studio arrived yesterday. I have it driving a Qnix 27" 4k monitor which looks ok but has never been a match for the iMac screen which it was paired with. The resolution on the Qnix doesn't offend but it can't be calibrated to a paper white regardless of how I configure it. It's either too pink or too blue.

I'm an old guy with eyesight that needs assistance for the CAD work I do using Vectorworks so am thinking of upsizing to 32 or 34" and dumping the second monitor. I like the 27" studio display but over $2k CAD for a base model display in my view is gouging which I'm not going to reward with a sale even though in hindsight I've probably been spoilt by Apple with the iMac 27" which was great value. I'm crushed they've decided to discontinue it. In order to gain more screen real estate I have to sacrifice resolution but I don't want to sacrifice colour rendering as well.

The hardware that looks most appealing is 32" BenQ PD3220U or the 32" LG Ultranfine 32UL950-W. However, I'll struggle on with the Qnix meantime.

The BenQ arrived today and I've spent a couple of hours setting it up and getting used to it.

The monitor is nicely made with a good quality stand that adjusts height, pitch and swivel. The puck that comes with the monitor is interesting but not something I'll likely use much. The screen is substantially larger and harder to capture the whole screen in a glance.

The screen resolution is poorer than the iMac but better than my second monitor, a 2560 x 1440 27" Qnix. Brightness is also not as extreme as the iMac but good enough that I don't need full brightness. Colour rendering seems excellent. For the CAD work I undertake text, line and shading definition is good to excellent.

I thought that text and icon size would be larger with the larger monitor but it's actually smaller at full resolution. I've to reduce resolution to bring the text up to size. That's not an action I'm inclined to take so will work with full resolution for a while to see if I adjust to the smaller text. It's crisp enough, even reduced.

The BenQ speakers are poor but so are the Mac Studio's. I use neither, having a pair of studio monitor speakers connected to the Mac. If I didn't, I'd definitely need externals.

I don't do much FaceTime or Zoom so the absence of a webcam isn't an issue. I can use my iPad for that purpose. However, if I did require that facility on my desktop the cost of the BenQ plus external speakers plus a webcam would bring it within reach of the Apple Studio display and with its better resolution that would be a winner.
