Drag and drop in Contacts

The drag-and-drop feature to add a new name to a group in Contacts is no longer working. I have tried quitting and restarting Contacts, also restarting my computer, a MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.3.1. Any other explanations/solutions?

Hi MargoEdelfelt,

We see you're unable to drag users to a Contacts group. This link titled Create and change groups in Contacts on Mac has one piece of information that might apply:

"If the contacts aren’t added to the group, check if it’s a Smart Group—you can’t add contacts to a Smart Group."

If the group in question is not a Smart Group and you're still unable to drag and drop, try booting into safe mode using the steps in this link, and let us know if you can replicate the behavior there as well: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Best wishes.

MargoEdelfelt,

Thank you for confirming that. We see that you have macOS 12.2 tagged in your post, is that the version that is currently installed on your Mac? If so, you may want to update to see if this continues. The latest version of macOS Monterey is macOS 12.3.1.

You can update by going to the Apple Menu (  ) > System Preferences > Software Updates.
