How Do I Prohibit HomePod from being the Connected Home Hub?
The HomePod does not work as the Connected Hub with the eve Thread enabled smart plugs. I'm thinking the HomePod does not support Thread?
Whenever a HomePod slides into the Connected hub position, the Thread mesh falls apart and I can not access the eve smart plugs.
I have 6 devices that can function as the Connected hub, and they do slide in and out of the Connected hub position. There does not seem to be any way to control what can not be a Connected hub.
The iPad Pro, iPad Air, ATV4K and HomePod mini all support the eve Thread mesh, and the eve smart plugs work just fine when any of these devices are in the Connected hub position.
So, here's where I'm going with this...
I have two HomePods and they are very good products, and they are very expensive. They should not be obsoleted this soon, or ever.
Is there any way to control what can not be in the Connected Home Hub position? I'm thinking if there is a way to prohibit the HomePods from being a Connected Home Hub, they can still function as speakers, but not in a hub capacity. Instead of being in Standby, they will be Prohibited.
But right now, the HomePods are wreaking havoc with my new Thread enabled HomeKit devices. These HomeKit Thread devices work as advertised with all other Connected Home Hub options, except the HomePods.
Looks like the HomeKit spec obsoleted the HomePod, which is really unacceptable. These HomePods should have a very long life, just less the Connected Home Hub feature. Some software needs to be updated to prohibit the HomePod from being a Connected Home Hub.
