DVD Writer not recognized

DVD Writer brings up 'Disk Utility' and can't write to it. Happened since upgrade to Monterey. Writer is 2016 model. Is there incompatibility?

Some 3rd party devices are incompatible with Monterey because the developers haven't created Monterey compatible drivers. Check your device's websites for Monterey drivers.

Are you connecting via a hub or dock? If so attach the writer directly to the Mac and retest.

Tried it both ways and doesn't matter. The Writer is a 2016 model. Probably better to buy a new one. Are there specs I should look for, or is Apple IOS Monterey enough?
