QuickPath keeps getting less accurate

As a former user of Android’s Swype, I was delighted to discover that IOS on my iPhone 11 supported the similar QuickPath. Originally, it was pretty accurate, appeared to consider context when choosing the most likely word, and a real time-saver compared to tapping individual letters. I bragged to friends about how much easier it was to create text on an iPhone. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting less accurate the more I use it. Honestly, it appears to be “learning” from mistakes—both mine and its own. It now routinely generates the following errors for me:

* “abs” substituted for “and”

* “off” substituted for every instance of “of”

* capitalizing non-proper nouns in the middle of sentences—the latest is “The.” (It also capitalized Mine in a sentence above.)

I’ve tried to correct some in keyboard shortcuts, such as automatically changing “abs” to “and,” but QuickPath or the built-in dictionary seems to be choosing alternate, random words beginning with “a” now.

The issue is that QuickPath is most useful when it makes relatively few errors. Now unless I proofread everything very carefully, it CREATES errors where previously there were none. Is there any way to reset the internal dictionary, for example, that might undo QuickPath’s current word choices?

I’ve found what I hope will solve the problem. Turns out that you CAN reset the iOS dictionary, removing all custom entries you’ve created and unlearning whatever it’s learned from your typing or QuickPath.

That fixed the bulk of my problems. No more instances “of” or “and” incorrectly replaced. The only remaining issue is that the dictionary inexplicably LOVES to change words to possessives by adding ‘s. In the third sentence I tried, it changed:

Bill and Ted is a movie favorite of mine.

-to-

Bill and Ted’s is a movie favorite of mine’s.

The first change was basically acceptable (although it didn’t know I was going to type a movie name at that point), but the second correction was ridiculous.

Because it’s gotten progressively worse over time for me, I suspect it’s a dictionary/grammar “learning” issue based on all my previous uses of QuickPath (which I use almost exclusively to input text). One thing in particular may be causing at least some of the problem: Because there’s no style options for text in most apps, I capitalize entire words in lieu of boldfaced, such as “This is MINE!”

In theory, if there was an option to clear the user dictionary or even edit it, I could probably resolve this problem.

Except for believing the phenomenon shared by you in this post, there is nothing that I can offer over this forum as I am unable to see anything that you are saying. I can simply add that I do not face any such difficulty on my device (iPhone 12 Pro).
