Can't delete Books, Notes, or Reminders apps completely

Reminders stopped syncing on iOS iPhone and paired WatchOS a few months back. iPad and macos continue to sync just fine. No amount of effort has corrected this problem. All devices are fully updated. Tried logging in and out of iCloud, resetting all settings, turning reminders sync on and off, turned off icloud files and documents restore from backup and on and on. Nothing work.

recently I have tried to delete the app from within iPhone storage settings to completely delete the app and data and it does this then the data immediately reappears! Frustrating.

any thoughts?

this picture is old. Still the exact same issues dated as recently as april 4th, 2022

The white grid icon means you did not completely delete the apps.

There is only really one way out of it

First try a Forced restart

Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

If no better

Backup, restore to factory, and restore from backup

If you can import your media to Photos or iTunes in a computer and copy important documents to a cloud server it will give you some resilience in case the restore from backup fails or if you have to stop at step 2 and set up from scratch.

(1)          How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

(2)          Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

(3)          Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

If the problem remains then do step (2) again but set up as new without restoring any backup. Then recover your data and photos.
