I can't see my Photo albums in Olympus workspace

I can see the Photo Library icon in Olympus Workspace but apparently it is empty. No albums or photos to be seen. Has anybody lese had this problem?

The same applies when I try to export from workspace. I chose a thumbnail, right clicked, chose export, a new screen opened where I chose the photo library as destination, confirmed that and exported. Nothing arrived in the photo library.
Any ideas?
Many, many thanks for your time once again

Evidently the Olympus Workspace doesn't work like other 3rd party editors you'll have to try this workflow:

1 - export either the original or edited version (depending if it's been edited in Photos previously) to the Desktop.

2 - open the exported image file with Olympus Workspace and edit.

3 - save to the Desktop

4 - import the new edited file into Photos

If you're running Monterey Photos has improved edited feature for both RAW and JPEG.

I use Photoshop Elements with Photos and it work very well with JPEGS. I don't use RAW so can't comment on that part of the problem.

Hi Old Toad!

Olympus Workspace is an Olympus Photocamera software package used for editing photos.

It should be possible to import a photo into workspace from your photo library, edit it and then put a revised copy back into your photo library. The full program tree (applications, users, documents, pictures) is on the left side of the workspace screen and the photo library icon appears amongst them. Clicking on the icon should give me access to all my albums and photos but this doesn't happen. It is as if my photo library were empty.

If you have any ideas I would be most grateful

You can try using this menu option: Control (right) - click on the thumbnail in the library and select "Edit With" from the contextual menu:

Warning: the resulting edited file MUST BE the exact same as the original file. If the editor substitutes jpeg for jpg then it should be changed to jpg before saving. Photoshop Elements will often change it to .psd and it has to be flattened and changed to jpg. If this isn't followed the edited version will not be recognized by the Photos library.

OR get the free extension, External Editors for Photos,

and select it in the Edit mode window as follows:

These are the only two ways to use an external editor integrated with Photos. Otherwise one must export the original to the Desktop, open not with the 3rd party editor, edit, save and reimport as a new photo.

Hi Old Toad!

thank you so much for your time and patience. I'm slowly getting closer to my goal!

I have managed to move photos back and forth by transiting through the desktop which for me is quite an accomplishment in itself.

I would now like to do it direct from Photos.

I have right clicked on the thumbnail, selected edit in, and chose Olympus Workspace and confirmed that too.

The Olympus Workspace software opened but there was no sign of the photo.

The same applies when I try to export from workspace. I chose a thumbnail, right clicked, chose export, a new screen opened where I chose the photo library as destination, confirmed that and exported. Nothing arrived in the photo library.

What are you sending to the Workspace app? A Raw? or a Jpeg?

That simply never works. You can't export into Photos, it must always import. When you use the Edit With menu a copy of the image is sent to your editor. Do your edits and then save the image and it gets saved back to Photos. But the image most originate in Photos.
