Changing notification tones

On iPhone SE (2nd generation)  I change tone for notifications but the tone stays the same. In settings it shows the new tone is checked, but the old one continues to play. It’s a bit frustrating because the notification tone is the same as for texts and it’s almost constantly going off and distracting me!  I appreciate any ideas you might have.

Hello burn03,

You can use these steps to help if your iPhone is not behaving as expected:

• Restart your iPhone. Restarting can often resolve issues like this: Restart your iPhone

• Make sure your iPhone is up to date. It's important to have the latest version of the software available for your iPhone, as it contains additional features and bug fixes. As of this writing the current version of iOS for your device is 15.4.1: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Best Regards.

Hello burn03,

Great job trying those steps already! Next, be sure to create a backup of your data: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

From here, you can try resetting some of your iPhone's settings as described here under the: "Reset All Settings" section: Return iPhone settings to their defaults

Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.

For context, this won't affect any of your personal data at all. However, this can often help resolve unexpected behavior when it comes to issues with settings not working as intended such as what you've described.

If it works, you can set up your settings the way you had them before. If not, feel free to just restore from your prior backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

From there your best bet would be to contact Apple Support directly: Apple - Get Support

We wish you the best of luck!

Take care.
