See Put your iPod into Disk Mode. In summary press and hold the menu and centre select buttons for 6 seconds until the iPod reboots then immediately switch to holding the play-pause button and centre select button for a further 6 seconds until the screen tells you that the device is in disk mode. You don't really need third party software to recover content from a classic.

Tt2 this is William from Clovis thanks for your answer. For years I used windows but this year I went to Mac mini. I have 2 iPod classics that I want to put on my Mac anymore suggestions would help k

Hay TT2 this is William from Clovis first problem I can’t get the iPods to go disc mode. I downloaded touch copy but still having trouble I don’t mean to be pain but there is a lot of music that want to transfer please let me what I need to do.
