MacBook air M1 trackpad not working after lid closed

Hello, I have the following issue:

Whenever I close my MacBook Air M1 lid and open it neither trackpad nor the keyboard not working / unresponsive.

Upgraded to the latest OS (12.3.1), tried safe mode, reinstalled OS but the issue is still there. Very annoying since after every time the lid closed I need to shut down and restart my computer to work properly.

Any idea, recommendation?

Hello andrás117,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! If we understand your post correctly, the trackpad on your MacBook Air M1 stops working after closing the lid. We'd like to help!

It looks like you've tried some troubleshooting steps with no success and the issue remains.

Let's try resetting the SMC. How to reset the SMC of your Mac.

You can also create another user on your Mac and test to see if you experience the same issue. Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

You may want to also run Disk Utility which will check for and fix errors related to the formatting and directory structure of a Mac storage device.Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac

Hi,

thanks for the answer - so:

since I have a MBA with M1 chip SMC reset in this way not working (only shut down - wait - restart) - did not solve the problem

Setting up an other user: same symptoms

repair storage / reinstall OS did not solve the problem

Diagnostic says all good (clearly not…)

Anyways I took back the computer since it’s seems to be a HW issue with some of the MBAs.
