Compressor says File Missing when Project sent from FCPX

Hallo,

I only have the Proxy Media of a FCPX Project to Edit with, the Originals are somewhere else. It seems Compressor is looking for the Originals when I try to export through it. This is not an Option, so how can I change it that Compressor uses the Proxys?

Thx in advance!

I can reproduce that when the original is trashed. It knows it's a proxy and won't process. You could export a high res master from FCP of the proxy project, say ProRes HQ, and take that to Compressor and recompress it whatever smaller size and format you want if you can't get a suitable format directly out of FCP.

Can you give details about the media and where it comes from and project settings and when you get whatever error you're seeing?

I put proxies in a new library and project and sent it to Compressor. It didn't seem to know the files were proxies and didn't care. I also sent a project that was set to proxy playback, and Compressor didn't care about that either. I don't see why it cares or even how it knows the media are proxy files.

Thanks for your reply and the tests you already did! I think the Original Files are shot with a Red Camera, some are 6K, some around 5K, 24fps. I don't know a lot because I didn't set up the Library, it was given to me to Edit already prepared. And am also very new to FCPX (one week, so really new). I did phrase my question like that because I found a Question of someone with the same issue on this page, but it was resolved when the Disc with the Original media was mounted. It was some time ago, so I couldn't add my problem to the same Question.

When I send my Project to Compressor I can hear the sound (which is original media) but instead of the picture I see the Text "File Missing". Because of these two reasons I was under the impression that Compressor is looking for the original media and I am missing a setting or something.

Did you also unmount the original Media when you did your tests?

PS: Normal Export directly from Final Cut works with no issue.

Thx, I know, that's what I did today (Just for clarity: I wouldn't blow up the Proxys to HQ though, Just stay at Prores Proxy - it's confusing that it's the same name :D ).

But that's not why I have a compressor license. I was hoping that the main functionality of this Program would also work with Proxys only (in FC), because that's a very common workflow for Editors.

Thank you for all the help and time you spent on this though. It's really appreciated!
