My iPad is not recognizing my Apple Magic Keyboard.

As of yesterday, my iPad was paired with my Apple Magic keyboard. Today is didn't work, so first I recharged the keyboard and it is at 100%. At the moment, it is paired with my iMac...but when I try and pair it with my iPad again, I do not see it as one of my devices.

How do I repair it with my iPad. Before I connected it with my iMac - I did see it as one of my devices on my iPad, but it didn't recognize it for some reason.

Thanks.

Hi Trudijane,

We see you're unable to pair a keyboard with your iPad, but it's working with your Mac.

First, try clicking System Preferences > Bluetooth on the Mac, and "forget" the device on your Mac. Then, restart your iPad and see if you're able to pair it again.

If that doesn't help, check out these steps If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support:

"If you can't connect to one of these devices

To get help pairing a Bluetooth accessory—like a wireless keyboard—to your iOS or iPadOS device, try these steps:

  1. Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory and iOS or iPadOS device are close to each other.
  2. Turn your Bluetooth accessory off and back on again.
  3. Make sure that your Bluetooth accessory is on and fully charged or connected to power. If your accessory uses batteries, see if they need to be replaced.
  4. If there's an app that you use with the Bluetooth accessory, go to Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth on your iOS or iPadOS device, and make sure that you've turned on Bluetooth for the app.

If you still can't pair or connect your Bluetooth accessory

  1. If you previously connected your Bluetooth accessory to your iOS or iPadOS device, unpair the accessory, put it back in discovery mode, then try to pair and connect it again.
  2. If you can pair your accessory with some devices but not your iOS or iPadOS device, unpair the accessory from your other devices. Then try to pair with your iOS or iPadOS device again.
  3. Check with the accessory manufacturer to make sure that your accessory supports your iOS or iPadOS device.
  4. If you still have any of these issues, contact Apple Support
    • You can’t turn on Bluetooth or the setting is grayed out.
    • You can’t connect any Bluetooth accessories with your device.
    • The accessory manufacturer confirmed that your accessory is working correctly."

Let us know how it goes. Cheers.

Sometimes, things just start working again without knowing why! It's working now -

All I did was first pair the keyboard with my iPhone; and it worked. I then chose 'forget this device' and tried again on my iPad. This time, the device showed up and I have no idea what I did differently from the other times!

But thank you - it's working now

My answers are in bold:

"First, try clicking System Preferences > Bluetooth on the Mac, and "forget" the device on your Mac. Then, restart your iPad and see if you're able to pair it again"

I already took this step (forget this device); and now it lists just 2 devices on my iMac (my wireless keyboard & mouse).

"restart your iPad and see if you're able to pair it again."

I restarted iPad and under devices, it just lists 'Shield' which I don't have. It looks like it is searching for other devices but it doesn't see the keyboard which is on. It was connecting just fine last week, so I'm afraid I'm still stumped.

I also looked at the links you sent me; and nothing seems to work; so how to I get Apple Support to help me ... Thank you.
