After 2 minutes in under water iPhone X's screen is not working

I did a video with my iPhone X immersing in a lake for less than one minute. It went just 5cm deep in water for less than one minute. Day after, its screen showed dull color. Then iPhone X screen again worked on day two. It's screen went completely dark on day 4. I brought my phone to "Generation Next Communications," one of the authorized dealers for Apple in Sri Lanka, and explained. They said that Apple won't give any claims for issues about immersing in water. They offer me to buy a new iPhone X at 270,000 LKR (806.53 USD).

According to apple's website, iPhone X has IP67 under the IEC standard 60529 certificates. So, it should work in the water. I wonder, without inspecting properly, how "Generation Next Communications" was said they can't repair it or claim? I bought this iPhone X 2019, and the warranty period was over before 6 months.

Please help me to fix this problem.

Apple iPhones are not waterproof. They should never be intentionally immersed in water.

You need to look at the foot notes at the end of the web articles.

The IP67 test is a manufacturing standard, it does not mean your phone is waterproof to the same level, the water resistance reduces with time, and it is not guaranteed

Your phone is not repairable and should be replaced.

Please give a link to influencers who did this AND were promoted or supported in any way by Apple. They may claim to be from Apple.

iPhones are advertised in such a way that

  • you need to read it and understand the advert literally
  • you need to read the footnote that is always given. This is a typical footnote that always appears at the bottom of all Apple.com web adverts.

Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty.

You will not find the word Waterproof anywhere in Apple's literature, only water resistance.

Its really unfair. Apple had presented their iPhones were water proof in their product presentation, did marketing campaigns using influencers with underwater shoots but saying different story in footnotes. This is really disappointing. How we can trust their product in future? I couldn't even find anyone to discuss from Apple side.

Even though I did underwater shooting about 5cm depth and for less than one minute, my iPhone X is not working.

"You will not find the word Waterproof anywhere in Apple's literature, only water resistance.".... Watching their commercials we felt that Apple phones are waterproof but they said their phones are water resistance. How cheap their marketing campaigns. I hope there are so many people who faced same situation and lost their displays and money. iPhone lovers like to do under water shooting with their beloved iPhones. Unfortunately, they loose their phones because of these cheap marketing activities.
