cannot switch off subtitles

Weird problem here with Apple TV. Watched a Disney+ movie and switched on subtitles by clicking in the Apple TV settings (Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Subtitles and Captioning﹥). Later on started to watch the MLB.TV app, and during the game the subtitles stayed on. Obviously changed the setting to 'off' at Settings﹥Accessibility﹥Subtitles and Captioning﹥. But text kept coming. Restarted my Apple TV, no change. Please help! Thanks.
