Macbook on flames; Smoke coming out of MacBook

Hello!

I have MacBook Pro 2017, on 20th April I was using my MacBook when suddenly there was a spark of flame on the right side of the MacBook and smoke started coming out of the device. The device stopped working all together. And the smoke was still coming out even when I unplugged the device and shut the laptop.

I quickly called the customer care and upon their guidance I took it to my local apple store. The person who was taking a look at my Mac had to quickly turn it off again as the smoke started coming from the device.

Long story short they just called me on 24th and said, They won't be looking in what started the fire as there was no injury or damage. Basically, I'll be returned the device which can anytime start fire. And if I don't want to than I have to pay around 500 bucks for them to just look at what started the fire!

This is a safety recall; it is not something which happens normally.

If I would have waited for it to be fully on fire than Apple would have taken this safety issue seriously.

I'm not comfortable with how lightly they are taking this issue and I don't know what should I do next.

Please, Help!

OMG my 2017 MacBook Pro just started smoking on the left side of where the monitor meets the keyboard/base! It wasn't plugged in. Immediately my monitor stopped working. As soon as that happened the smoke stopped.

I assumed my computer was kaput but when I plugged it into a monitor it was ok. And while on the phone w Apple support the monitor started working again! Going to Genius bar later but I def can't have a computer that might catch fire. Not ok! They said this isn't a model where the battery is recalled for such an incident. Maybe it should start being such a model. Im sure we're not the only ones w this issue. Any folo up to your situation?

The same thing happened yesterday with my daughters iPad. She was in the bedroom, there was a strange hissing sound, then in a couple of seconds the room was filled with smoke. It was very scary. Realising the smoke was coming from the iPad, boyfriend quickly took it into the bathroom and put it in the shower cubicle. The smoke stayed in the bedroom for quite some time and smelt of rubber. The carpet is burnt where the iPad was sitting. It all happened very quickly and they feel lucky they were not in bed asleep at the time.
