Beats Fit Pro Wingtips tore off my right ear piece

Asking as my Fit Pro Wingtip has torn off of my right ear piece. I've had these for now less than 4 months and only use when traveling or on conference calls - so mostly for work. One day took them off and noticed that when sitting in the case that the right ear appeared out of position. Discovered that the wingtip had torn and is now faulty and not sitting properly. Anyone else gone through this as well?

Find it hard to believe that such a pricey headset has already broken with just normal use.

My Beats Fit Pro wingtips lasted about 10 months before it ripped almost completely off on the right side. The left side was beginning to tear as well. Since I still had about a month remaining of the original warranty (non-Applecare) I took it to my local Apple Store to inquire about replacing the defective wingtips. Since it was still under the 1-year product warranty, Apple replaced both sides free of charge. I really took care of these well. I use it for school, work, and running. I wipe them gently with a moist cloth after every run. My main concern now is that these replacements will last another 9 months or so and will likely tear again. When that happens, it'll be out of warranty and the cost to fix these wingtips will cost almost as much as a new pair. For those of you planning on buying these, I STRONGLY suggest you get the Apple Care.

The exact same thing happened to my right headset and after going to the service center they said its physical damage so won't be covered in the warranty. This didn't make any sense as the internet is full of this same issue all over the place and apple not trying to own up to the manufacturing defects. It is sad that they want us to just throw them away or what after paying so much to buy these things. Just bad product design and bad support.

Yes, got them as a Christmas gift last year and the left one is ripping. Out of warranty since they were purchased in November, even though I didn’t activate them until Christmas. Very expensive product to fall apart in less than a year. Apple wanted $89 to fix one earbud. I loved these earbuds until this and now would never recommend them due to the poor quality.

I have the exact same problem on the Left earbud. I can't believe that apple didn't think of making that part a snap-in/out replaceable part. I've had them more than 30 days so no warranty support. Very frustrated when the cheaper off-brand buds are still working fine but missing the bells and whistles of the H1 chip. Just really ticks me off when I am more than happy to pay a premium for quality but end up with crap!

All, thank you for the comments. Honestly, should I have to pay additional for Apple Care for them to honor a manufacturers defect??

I have spent so much on adding extended warranty’s with Apple since every person in my family has multiple devices with them it gets old unless it is a large purchase like a MacBook or an iPhone of course. I am perfectly fine taking the risk and not paying the additional fee If the headset is out of warranty or I am at fault for the record…

I have already visited 2 Apple stores and called them twice once even leaving a complaint that they never followed up on. At this point, I am happy at least some people without Apple warranty seem to be taken care of now under their normal Apple manufacturers warranty instead of being told by Apple that it is physical damage.

I can't express enough how I've had the exact same experience. I also purchased Power Beats Pro years ago and decided to upgrade to Beats Fit Pro when my right Power Beat couldn't hold a charge. Now the wing tips on my Beats Fit Pros have began to split, exposing the plastic housing underneath. It's really odd to see these parallels appearing. Thanks for the insight!
