Beats Fit Pro Wingtips tore off my right ear piece

Asking as my Fit Pro Wingtip has torn off of my right ear piece. I've had these for now less than 4 months and only use when traveling or on conference calls - so mostly for work. One day took them off and noticed that when sitting in the case that the right ear appeared out of position. Discovered that the wingtip had torn and is now faulty and not sitting properly. Anyone else gone through this as well?

Find it hard to believe that such a pricey headset has already broken with just normal use.

My wing tip completely broke off the right ear. It’s started coming apart around June 2022 and finally came off in December 2022. I’ve had it for pretty much exactly a year. Do they come with replacement wings?

My Beats Fit Pro wingtips lasted about 10 months before it ripped almost completely off on the right side. The left side was beginning to tear as well. Since I still had about a month remaining of the original warranty (non-Applecare) I took it to my local Apple Store to inquire about replacing the defective wingtips. Since it was still under the 1-year product warranty, Apple replaced both sides free of charge. I really took care of these well. I use it for school, work, and running. I wipe them gently with a moist cloth after every run. My main concern now is that these replacements will last another 9 months or so and will likely tear again. When that happens, it'll be out of warranty and the cost to fix these wingtips will cost almost as much as a new pair. For those of you planning on buying these, I STRONGLY suggest you get the Apple Care.

Yes, got them as a Christmas gift last year and the left one is ripping. Out of warranty since they were purchased in November, even though I didn’t activate them until Christmas. Very expensive product to fall apart in less than a year. Apple wanted $89 to fix one earbud. I loved these earbuds until this and now would never recommend them due to the poor quality.

I was able to get the entire earpiece replaced at the Apple Store through Apple Care. If you do not have Apple Carr, I’d recommend going to Geek Squad. Not sure if they can repair it, but, due to them being an official repair provider, it is my understanding that they allow you to add Apple Care after someone pays for the repair cost out of pocket for any Apple products.

Hope this helps!!

I have the same issue. About after 10 months they started to rip. This was basically clear from the beginning. The force you need to take it out of the magnetic hold and the thin flapsy bridge of rubber that connects the audio piece with the “in-ear” piece is bound to rip sooner or later. Design Flaw by Apple and they should stand by it and replace the rubber parts free of charge! There is no way this is NOT gonna break. No matter how careful you use them. Apple clean this mess up!

Same. Exact. Issue.

Gentle use since August 2022, always have the 'buds in my ears or in their case. They tore in January 2023, so less than 5 months of use before I'd need to pay $90 for a repair that'll last... another 5 months perhaps? Yeah, Apple, that sounds like a great deal! Why would I not pay that?

I'd post photos except they'd look exactly like all the others posted here. Same tear, same position. This is clearly a design flaw. I've repaired it with "sil poxy," a silicone glue. It sort of works.

I wonder whether Apple will proactively address this, or whether it will take a class action suit to get them to do anything. I'd sign on for that, and I bet a lot of others here would as well.

Also: Apple reps, we know you're reading this. Maybe a reply would be nice?
