Beats Fit Pro Wingtips tore off my right ear piece

Asking as my Fit Pro Wingtip has torn off of my right ear piece. I've had these for now less than 4 months and only use when traveling or on conference calls - so mostly for work. One day took them off and noticed that when sitting in the case that the right ear appeared out of position. Discovered that the wingtip had torn and is now faulty and not sitting properly. Anyone else gone through this as well?

Find it hard to believe that such a pricey headset has already broken with just normal use.

My Beats Fit Pro wingtips lasted about 10 months before it ripped almost completely off on the right side. The left side was beginning to tear as well. Since I still had about a month remaining of the original warranty (non-Applecare) I took it to my local Apple Store to inquire about replacing the defective wingtips. Since it was still under the 1-year product warranty, Apple replaced both sides free of charge. I really took care of these well. I use it for school, work, and running. I wipe them gently with a moist cloth after every run. My main concern now is that these replacements will last another 9 months or so and will likely tear again. When that happens, it'll be out of warranty and the cost to fix these wingtips will cost almost as much as a new pair. For those of you planning on buying these, I STRONGLY suggest you get the Apple Care.

Same. Exact. Issue.

Gentle use since August 2022, always have the 'buds in my ears or in their case. They tore in January 2023, so less than 5 months of use before I'd need to pay $90 for a repair that'll last... another 5 months perhaps? Yeah, Apple, that sounds like a great deal! Why would I not pay that?

I'd post photos except they'd look exactly like all the others posted here. Same tear, same position. This is clearly a design flaw. I've repaired it with "sil poxy," a silicone glue. It sort of works.

I wonder whether Apple will proactively address this, or whether it will take a class action suit to get them to do anything. I'd sign on for that, and I bet a lot of others here would as well.

Also: Apple reps, we know you're reading this. Maybe a reply would be nice?

Hello! I went to the Apple Store for an unrelated issue and thought to inquire about the wingtip issue as well and the Apple employee I was talking about this with told me that we should all report the issue to Apple via Apple Support so that there is a chance for a repair program to be launched based off what he saw with the whole keyboard situation.

Just wanted to share with everyone here so we can hopefully get taken care of.

Hello, Apple is saying that this is not covered by warranty and is considering it physical damage though we all know on this post thread it is not our fault….. I have called Apple several times and visited their store to try to explain… Honestly not a good experience and I hope Apple reconsiders their stance since so many people are also having issues.

However, I did learn on this post thread that Gorilla Glue works so that’s what I did and so far successful. I still think Apple should replace them and I shouldn’t be trying to fix my own expensive headphones that should still be under warranty…

I was able to get the entire earpiece replaced at the Apple Store through Apple Care. If you do not have Apple Carr, I’d recommend going to Geek Squad. Not sure if they can repair it, but, due to them being an official repair provider, it is my understanding that they allow you to add Apple Care after someone pays for the repair cost out of pocket for any Apple products.

Hope this helps!!

Same situation here. My wife bought these for me while in the hospital. Along with AirPod Pro. The wingtip tore. Went to Apple store. They also wanted $90. Not the longest day will I pay for a manufacture defect. Apple needs to own up and make it right. Just in the past week the other side ripped. This was simple in and out of the case. They have great sound and I loved them until this happened. They did right by the AirPods in replacing them when the noise canceling went out. But to blame the customer for a cheap build is crazy. Apple, do better. You see people are not just making stuff up. I am not blaming you for knowing this would happen. I am blaming you for not taking responsibility.

A few Apple reps put up with me pushing back and they agreed to have an engineer inspect my BeatsFit Pro. My saga continues because I sent BeatsFit Pro to them a month ago. So far I have only received one update that was just to say they don’t have a timeline because an exception was made. I appreciate what they are doing for my situation. But the lack of any transparency or expectations has left me underwhelmed. I have no clue when this will be resolved. My hope is that they identify an issue, get a new set of BeatsFit Pros back to me, and help anyone else experiencing this issue. The headphones are great. There is just this one critical flaw.
