Macbook Air messages "indexing"?

I became aware that I'm not receiving some messages on my 2020 Macbook Air. I have never been able to sync my phone and computer messages. When I did a search for a missing text message, it said "No Results. More will be shown once messages finishes indexing". What does that mean and how do I fix it? Thanks

Messages in iCloud don't sync in Monterey I just updated a new 2021 MacBook Pro to Monterey and the messages that are not in my contacts appear in my iPhone, but not on the Mac. I enabled messages in iCloud under the iMessage tab and it just won't sync. I already logged out of Messages, restarted the machine and it still won't work. The iPhone gets these messages, but the Mac still won't. Is this a Monterey bug? Everything was fine with Big Sur.

Messages (iMessages and Text messages) no longer syncing to my MacBook Pro Just noticed that my iMessages and text messages are no longer synching with my MacBook Pro. I have all the settings configured correctly, as described on the Apple Support pages. iMessages are enabled through iCloud for synching, Text Message Forwarding is enabled on all of my devices (iPad, iPhone, MacBook). Even the Sync Now button is not working under Message Preferances on the Mac. The synching starts but never finishes. I was away for 1 week and when I returned home, 156 messages will not synch with my MacBook. Rebooting the computer doesn't help. The messages are still synching between iPad and iPhone OK, just the Mac is not working anymore. HELP!

New iMac Messaging Not Synching On my new iMac the messaging app is not synching all messages that are available on iPhone and iPad and old iMac. I have closed the app and reopened it with the same result. It only shows one addressed message that actually had been deleted and does not show up on messages on the other devices.

Hi serendipity888,

Indexing generally means going through your content to get it sorted. If you're not using it already, syncing messages over iCloud will be the best way to seamlessly get your messages across your devices. Here's a guide on setting that up: Use Messages in iCloud
