PokerStars App quits unexpectedly

This is a brand new iMac,

I have no problem with any apps but one. I can't open my PokerStars app, it quits unexpectedly. I pasted the crash report below. When I download it and install it, it does not ask me for permissions, the only pop up I get is to ask me if I want to open the app that was downloaded from internet and I click "open" then the crash happends. Any idea what I could do to fix this?

Hi Todd,

Thank you for your answer.

Few days ago I contacted the PokerStars support, but nothing they suggested helped.

I uninstalled the app with AppCleaner(FreeMacSoft), downloaded a fresh app from PokerStars.com.

To install it you have to open a .dmg file that opens a window on the desktop with 2 icons in it.

One is the app the other is an alias of the Application folder. To install it you drag the app in the Application folder.

In a normal situation you get a pop up window asking you for permission to install the app.

In my situation the app was copied in the Application folder without the pop up. Then when I tried to

open the app it would crash unexpectedly.

This morning I tried something, I restored the app from Time Machine and I chose a date that I knew the

app was working. While restoring I got a pop up asking for permission to install in my Application folder.

The app works just fine now. 😀

Have a great week-end!

Hello iMarc2,

Congratulations on your new iMac! It sounds as though you've just installed the application and it continues to close when attempting to open. With this issue, you'll want to complete the steps listed below to reach a resolution. You can also find these steps outlined in the following article.

  • "If an app doesn’t quit as expected, or it’s unresponsive, you can force quit the app (you may lose unsaved changes). Choose Apple menu  > Force Quit, select the app in the dialog that appears, then click Force Quit.
  • If the app quit, reopen it by clicking Reopen in the dialog that appears.
  • Restart your Mac by choosing Apple menu > Restart.
  • Make sure the app is compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Open another file in the app. There may be a problem with the original file.
  • Check for updates to your software.
  • Disconnect any peripheral devices you just connected (for example, a printer). They may not be compatible with your version of macOS.
  • Uninstall any app plug-ins or enhancements from other manufacturers.
  • If you recently updated the app or macOS, a plug-in or enhancement you installed may no longer be compatible.
  • Diagnose problems with your Mac to learn whether hardware you installed, such as additional memory, is incompatible, improperly installed, or defective."

If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac

It's possible you may need to reach out to the application developer for additional support. You can find their contact details via the steps listed below.

  1. "Open the App Store on your Mac.
  2. Click the sign-in button or your photo.
  3. A list of apps appear. Click the app that you want. If you can't find the app, use the search bar.
  4. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then click App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID."
