Macbook playing start up sound randomly while closed

My macbook randomly made the startup noise while it has been shut for a solid hour.. then it did it two more times about 10 mins apart. It looked like it was updating when i opened it the first time it went off but now it wont even turn on? It also never plays the start up sound when I regularly reboot.
