Asus PA279CV monitor video input detect problems with M1 Air. Firmware update questions

Hi, I have the Asus PA279CV monitor. Connecting to a Mac Pro 5,1 and 2021 MBA.

I love the monitor, and it mostly works in the week I've had it, but I have had a few instances where the inputs were not detected. DP, USB-C and HDMI. Everything is working for the moment and I've been testing it every day with success, but I am considering returning the monitor to avoid any future issues. (I think the issues are with older firmware versions)

My Firmware version (as shipped) is V.20

V.21 and V.22 are available.

Should I try the update in the hopes it will prevent any further errors?

If everything is working, perhaps I should leave be?

There is also a second step to the update for the hub, which involves a Windows .exe

Instructions say the monitor should be connected via USB-C. Will USB-A work? I only have access to an older PC.

Thanks, I appreciate the input and will poke around Asus.

I posted here because the related discussion I linked in the original post had been pretty detailed and relevant. Was hoping to add to it/continue it but it was locked, unfortunately...

I also accidentally marked this as solved. I'm new here and can't find a away to reverse that. If anyone has any additional experiences to share about this I would appreciate hearing it.
