Apple mail: what is the "Conflicts" folder

I was tidying up mailboxes and accidentally moved a lot of messages to the Conflicits folder

(I missed clicking on the drop down marker)

there does not appear to be mailbox call Conflicts.

I have 3 different accounts: O365, gmail and an imap.

if I select any message in any O365 folder the default the "move to" changes to conflicts -- I conclude this is not a real folder.

So where did the messages go?

Hey there, Russell.

The options listed in the Move To section relate to actual folders created for one or all of the accounts. If you haven't done anything on the Mail app since this happened, you can try to go to the Edit menu and choose Undo, which would reverse the mistaken click. Something you may be able to do if you're not able to easily locate that folder is search for it. Mail has a great searching system that allows you to search for senders, subject terms, folder names, and more. Check out Search for emails in Mail on Mac for an in depth tutorial on how to search, and hopefully find those items. Note that there are sections for both searching using your own words and for using Mail suggestions, both of which may be helpful to you.

Also, check out the "Move emails" section of Move or copy emails between mailboxes in Mail on Mac for a little more detail on moving and copying emails across folders on a Mac.

Take care.
