MacBook Air version 10.14.6 - Compatible with HP DeskJet Advantage 2135?

When trying to reinstall my 2 year old printer I receive the following message:"You can’t open the application “HP Easy Start-6” because the Classic Environment is no longer supported". The HP 'Easy Admin' page additionally does not open in Safari. No HP installer downloads appear to be available anymore for the 2135 printer. What the heck does 'classic environment' mean, and is my OS Mojave system possibly now out of date for the printer? HP help pages regrettably do not provide any advice on this subject.

I would appreciate any assistance/advice to resolve this problem. Thank you.

Hi,

A classic environment was used in order to allow Mac OS 9 applications to run in early Mac OS X versions. I have no idea why it appears in this context.

Did you try downloading the Easy Admin tool via the following web page?

You may have to use another web browser or a dedicated FTP client.

Alternatively, what happens if you test drivers for a number of the other HP Deskjet models (driver version 2.3.2 et cetera) mentioned in Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support? See the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update package download from Apple.

It may be a good idea to reset the printing system between tests.

Look upon everything here as an experiment. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out, so make sure that you have (multiple) backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) before doing anything.
