fitness data download

When I download my fitness data, the zip file unzips as export.xml but is described as a music file and it won't open in Excel and tries to open in Musicscore

Alternatively, if I ask it to open in Excel from Finder, it says it can't and gives the message Line 2, Position 11. <!DOCTYPE HealthData [

which I understand means the file starts with some data that stops Excel opening.

Alternatively, if I start in Excel and ask it to import the file, it says it's the wrong format.

How can I control the format that the file is either saved in, or unzipped as, or how do I convert and xml music file into an xml Excel file?
