Video recorded with no sound

I recorded a video from the native iphone camera this evening and when I tried to play it there was no audio. This has never happened before. No other videos recorded on my phone have sound issues. There is a volume button that's greyed out on the bottom of the iPhone screen when playing. I closed all apps, restarted the phone. Nothing.

Could I have accidentally set it to record without sound? Is there a way to recover the sound?

I just happened to catch my child saying her name for the first time. I really hope there's a fix.

Hello spacecaptain77,

Let's use the steps below to make sure the microphones for your iPhone are working as expected:

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.

You can also find those steps in this resource: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working - Apple Support

If you don't hear your voice clearly when you play the video back, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support so they can look into this further: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.
