iPhone keyboard is possessed

When typing, typically texting, on my iPhone 12 Pro Max (software is up to date), random letters start popping up. As I backspace, more letters, numbers, symbols, spaces, etc. come up. I checked and there is no Text Replacements. Any thoughts on how to fix? The only fix is to stop using the phone and it seems to go away after 5 minutes.

Hello nataliefromplano,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

This article has a few helpful steps you can try: If the screen isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

"If your screen is too sensitive or responds intermittently to touch

  1. Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water.
  3. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.
  4. Remove any cases or screen protectors.

If part of your screen doesn't respond, responds intermittently, or responds even when it's not touched, contact Apple Support."

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? Does this happen across multiple apps? Do you have a screen protector or case on your iPhone? Also, what is your exact iOS version?

Good Luck!

I have shut my iphone down but it doesnt help.

It happens both while charging and not connected

I clean my screen with a cleaning cloth about every day or two

No screen protector but I will remove the case to see if that helps

I typically experience it the worst while texting but I will pay more attention on other apps to see
