Why is "Adjust" (Audio) in iMovie greyed out
Hello,
I've been using "adjust" in the past, but for some reason, it is greyed out in the video I'm editing, and I can't figure out why.
Thank you so much!

Apparently the Adjust item in the pop up menu is no longer viable. It appears grayed out in my system as well.
Sound adjustments are done via the loudspeaker and equalizer icons in the tool bar at the top right of the screen.

To work on a section of audio without affecting the rest of the clip, drag your cursor over anyplace in the audio clip while holding down the r key. That will create a yellow box. Adjustments made in the yellow box will be confined to the box. You can then drag the horizontal volume line up and down. To vary the sound volume up and down or fade hold down the Option key as you click along the horizontal volume line, to place keyframes along the line. You can then drag the keyframes up or down to vary the volume as you wish. Best to start with two key frames placed very close together at the start and the same at the end.
Actually, you can use the key frame method anywhere along the volume line in the entire clip, without the necessity of r-dragging to create a yellow box. That way you can vary the sound volume in different portions of the audio clip without affecting the entire clip. Wouldn't work with the equalizer, though. You would need the box for that.
Another way would be to simple split the audio clip at, say, the beginning and the end, and make your sound adjustments in the split off segments. The adjustments would be confined to the segments without affecting the middle of the clip.

I'm not clear exactly what procedure you are doing. I don't see any "adjust" function in iMovie 10. Are you using iMovie 10 or an earlier version, like iMovie 9? If you could post a screen shot, that would be helpful.

I do have that, but in "Adjust" I used to have the option to start dimmed, regulate the duration in seconds until the full volume, and the same on the finish. How do I do that now? Adjusting the volume or the equalizer is done to the entire audio track...I just want to gradually modify the beginning and end.
Thank you!
I'm using iMovie 10.2.2. I do right-click on the audio track.
Here is the screenshot.
Thanks!
I'm getting an error with the screenshot. I'll try without.
Thank you!
You are very welcome. 😊
