Instagram videos brightness increasing

Brightness increases for some instagram reels automatically for iPhone 13 (ios 15.4.1). It’s like how brightness increases while we turn into cinematic mode and also watching videos in gallery. My auto brightness is turned off. It’s same even it’s turned on.

Well HDR works like that. It’s not the brightness getting inc technically increased dynamic range needs it or in basic words HDR mean “Brighter” whites deep blacks with vibrant colours it’s not just increasing brightness but if you still don’t need it to happen use low power mode while scrolling reels or just turn on “Reduce white point” setting and make 1% tint filter and leave it on permanently with both of the things HDR videos will show up in SDR.

Hi Apple would you PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE im sick of dealing with this ESPECIALLY when ive done everything i can to make my screen dim and on the lowest setting it makes everything more difficult to see and your settings dont provide any help to prevent or end this problem. The font changes color on my apps especially instagram making anything written hard to read because the font color goes grey and the videos go up to THE BRIGHTEST it can, this is enormously frustrating for photosensitive users and for it to be lasting months on end makes me want to switch to Android.

there have been updates since these reports. Resolve this immediately please

It’s this kind of thing that makes me never buy an iPhone (it’s a work phone). I have had it one day and keep finding issues like this.

This IS a bug. If you can’t display the dynamic range of content, compress it. Making the display brighter is ludicrous. The person who let something like this into production should be fired. I’m sure the developers felt pain implementing this “feature”.

Thank for adding some logic to this conversation.. people just want to complain about things.. complain about the screen not bright enough, then complain if it’s too bright! Smh. It’s called TECHNOLOGY. It’s a good thing that we have HDR support now! Never seen so many people complain about an added benefit to this expensive phones. Just be happy geez.

Ah yes - we love technology which isn’t compatible with other technology in such a way that it forces your phone screen to either drastically dim or brighten with no input or control from the user! 😍 I love the feeling of my eyes hurting from all the light❤️

regardless the issue is fixed for me idk which update did it but it stopped happening because omg wow it’s like this WAS an issue after all! Why else would the forced brightening of the screen disappear if it was a ~feature~ yes having a screen change in brightness faster than eyes can adjust is just such an amazing feature I totally didn’t get blinded😩

Has anyone found a solution to this? My iphone 13 is up to date but I am still having the issue. I get the idea of HDR but it's ridiculous that if I'm looking at my phone inside or at night it randomly hurts my eyes by increasing to max brightness with no ability to turn it down. It's happening on all platforms including instagram, facebook, even my photos app on my phone. I don't like the solution of "reducing white point" because that actually just decreases the brightness of the whole phone so it's really not an ideal solution. Can't believe this issue has been happening since May and in December it still hasn't been resolved.
